What is hypnosis?
Is hypnosis mind control?
Absolutely not. You are always in control of yourself and in a state of consciousness.
You will most likely remember everything that we talk about or work on during and after our session is over. We are merely bypassing the conscious mind and working with the subconscious mind and sometimes the unconscious mind.
What does hypnosis feel like?
Is hypnosis sleep?
NOPE! It is not sleeping.
When you are sleeping, we would not be able to do the work that needs to be done to help you feel better.
Some hypnotists might use the term “sleep” in hypnosis, but they really only mean to become deeply relaxed and close your eyes like you are sleeping.
I do not use that terminology in my hypnosis inductions.
I’ve never talked to anyone. I’m used to handling things on my own. Aren’t people who go to a hypnotherapist weak?
Not at all. People who ask for help know when they need it and dare to reach out. Everyone needs help now and then.
In our work together, I’ll help you explore and identify your strengths and implement them to reduce the influence of the problems you are facing.
What’s the difference between talking to you or my best friend or family?
The difference is that you are only sharing or venting your concerns when you speak to your friend. That conversation is pleasant, but it will not help you get the relief you are looking for emotionally.
When you work with someone like me, who is trained to do this work professionally, we set goals; we determine if we are reaching them; and, if need be, we adjust the work to achieve the goals that brought you to hypnotherapy.
A hypnosis professional can help you approach your situation in a new way—teach you skills, gain different perspectives, listen to you without judgment or expectations, and help you listen to yourself.
Furthermore, hypnotherapy is entirely confidential. You won’t have to worry about others “knowing your business.”
Finally, suppose your situation provokes a great deal of negative emotion, and you’ve been confiding in a friend or family member. In that case, a risk is that you could start avoiding that person once you are feeling better, so you aren’t reminded of this difficult time in your life.
How does it work? What do I have to do in our sessions?
How long will it take?
In general, depending on the issues, it can take as little as four sessions or as many as eight. Once you have addressed the problem(s) that brought you to see me, you might feel the need to “brush up” once in a while. You are always welcome to schedule an independent in-person or online session or two to get you feeling your best.
I want to get the most out of my hypnosis sessions. What can I do to help?
I am so glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your sessions!
Your active participation and dedication will be crucial to your success. Hypnosis will not work if you do not want to be doing it in the first place.
You must to be ready to make changes and do the necessary work to feel better and change the circumstances that led you to work with me.
