Why an Attitude of Gratitude is So Important

December 5th 2022

This will be my last Blog post of the year and as it is a very special time of year, I wanted to focus on a topic that I think is spoken about, but might be overlooked.

How many times have you heard about having an Attitude of Gratitude? Probably a lot! It is something that a lot of people give lip service to, but do people ever really tell you why it is so important? I feel that it’s a thing people say, and they are well meaning when they speak about it,  but  they  don’t really grasp the importance of such an act and what that attitude can do for you when you practice it daily.

Science has proven, time and time again, that what we focus on, is what we bring into our reality. It’s true! Check out this article here by Misty Pratt at Mindful.org  about why…

Misty has a great article with a lot of different insights, but I wanted to focus on these primary points in my blog today.

  1. Better Emotional Outlook – When we focus on the things that are going right in our life, we feel happier which affects our life overall. It’s the Glass is half full ideology. Also, it is a signal you are putting out into the universe, so when you focus on the things that make you happier, you begin seeing those things showing up in your life in various ways. It is NOT a coincidence that more and more positive things will begin happening in your life.
  2. Better Sleep – If we are not in a state of stress over overthinking, we can sleep better and longer throughout the night. Which gives us more energy and with a restful night of sleep we feel more motivated and energetic.
  3. Better Health –  Our minds are incredibly powerful, so what we think can become our reality, especially in regards to our health. When you are feeling happier and more positive, it can change how your body digests food, how your immune system responds to possible threats etc..
  4. Better Relationships and connection –  When we are in a better mental and emotional state, those around us reap the benefits and it helps our connection with those we love. When we feel good, we draw people to us who also want to feel the same way.
  5. Better Centeral Nervous System response –  If our mind is calm, and we are feeling happier, then our central nervous system does not have to work so hard to keep everything in check or in a state of homeostasis. I  talk about this particular practice alot with my clients. Intentional Breathwork is a great way to reset the CNS. I will post on this in my next Blog!
The five brain wave states are Gamma, Beta, Alpha, Theta, and Delta.

As you can see, having an attitude of gratitude can improve a wide variety of areas in your life. When I work with people in a hypnotherapy Sessions, we focus on this very principle. You see chance cannot happen if you are not willing to open your mind and allow in positive suggestion. Most of us, want to live in a state of calm, peace and happiness, but we get caught up in the attitudes and beliefs of the world. Sometimes these support us, but mostly they don’t becuase they are based on someone elses ideas of what is right and wrong. You have to learn to dig deep inside yourself, to figure out what is right for you and for your life. There is no ONE ANSWER! There are many different ways to approach things to create change in your life. You just have to trust yourself, your higher guidance and to stick with your own values.

Through hypnosis, we can go deep into the subconscious mind.

So how do you go about having an Attitude of Gratitude? The best way is to take time each and every day to write down at least a few things you are truly grateful for. For instance, it could be very simply, like I am grateful for a warm shower. I am grateful for my family or something along those lines. If you want to get more creative and that may be necessary as the days and weeks go by, you can affirm to yourself –  I am grateful for having a kind heart and a loving partner. It can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be. So long as it is your truth. You have to be honest or otherwise your mind and heart know you are not being sincere and won’t buy that you are truly grateful.

I do hope that this blog article today has given you a few things to think about. We do have control over our thoughts and our actions, and when we take the time to be intentional and grateful for our lives, and the things in our lives, we can and will see changes. If you feel that learning how to do this, or even learning how to understand your own mind and your behaviors could be beneficial in heloing you make necessary changes in your life, then I would love to hear from you.
